Taking over from the incredible work that 'Parkour Dance Company' has created over the last 5 years, West Coast Parkour are proud to be the leading company in the country offering parkour tuition to elders. 'Forever Young' is a bespoke movement programme for older people, developing both mental and physical health, fitness and well being. Head coach Jacob says "We can begin parkour at almost any age, adapting our capabilities to the environment to test and build our levels of strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, spatial awareness, co-ordination and more.
Every single parkour class is tailored, with a specific structure for this age group. We build upon abilities and techniques such as fall prevention, exploration and creativity, all whilst improving our teamwork and memory". Based outside parks, we connect people to their environment, both physically and psychologically, in a social manner. With loneliness being an endemic in half of those aged 75 and over, we directly connect people with their community.
Our mission: to transform lives through movement.
Our dream: to see older people playing parks, and integrating ages and breaking stereotypes.
What does 'Forever Young' mean to us? The class name corresponds to a positive mindset, to be present and thankful for what our bodies can achieve today.
For participant testimonies and a visual understanding, do have a watch here:
Classes strictly limited to 15 participant per class, maximizing levels of 1-2-1 tuition.
What to Bring
A large bottle of water, loose fitting clothing and a positive attitude!
All ability levels are welcome within the same class. Almost every part of the class can be adjusted, becoming harder or easier, tailoring all challenges to the individual's capabilities.
Classes run all year round, minus two small breaks at Christmas and in the summer.
